“If we can take care of it in the office, I’m all for it–I want my patient’s experience at Arya Foot & Ankle to be convenient and efficient.” There are many procedures to diagnose and we treat a variety of pathologies at our office. Here are just a few of the many in-office procedures we do at the practice
INJECTIONS
Injections are often time necessary to decrease inflammation and pain and even make diagnoses in some instances through a number of different mediums. The medium of injection can be steroid, numbing medicine, or an amniotic membrane injection. Dr. Shylaja Arya has experience in a number of different injection techniques for a number of different anatomical sites, to get great results to get people back on their feet doing what they love to do.
INGROWN TOENAIL PROCEDURES
Ingrown toenails are generally very painful incurvation of either one or both of the nail borders of the toenails. These can lead to clinically severe infections that are very painful. Sometimes a toenail procedure requiring partial or full removal of nail piece is necessary, and this can be permanent or non-permanently done to relieve pressure right then and there. These are some of the most satisfying procedures Dr. Shylaja Arya does, because of how quickly they can improve the symptoms and resolve patient’s pain.
WART PROCEDURES
Warts are viruses that can easily spread and get more severe in size and distribution. It is imperative to treat a wart, but also take measures preventing its recurrence. At Arya Foot & Ankle, we do procedures to treat the wart in the office, but also have an at home regimen that can be followed post procedure to ensure the problem is resolved. Dr. Shylaja Arya also diligently educates her patients on how to decrease the recurrence of warts from returning, but also how to proactively keep from getting a wart in the first place.
SKIN BIOPSIES
The only way to know for sure what that lump or bump truly is, is to get a biopsy. There are a number of methods to biopsy including shaving the lesion, removing the lump and aspirating (pulling the fluid) out of the lesion itself. The result of all of these is sending it off to a lab to be tested and accounted for to determine what that lump or bump actually is. It’s important to have these areas assessed by a medical professional in order to determine what they actually are, so they can be treated.
NAIL BIOPSY
Whether a thickened nail is secondary to fungus, trauma, yeast, bacteria, or something else–it’s important to find out what’s causing the problems so it can be treated.
