Meet Dr. Arya

About Dr. Arya

Dr. Shylaja Arya is a board-certified podiatrist and the owner of Arya Foot & Ankle in Arizona. As a diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and a member of the American Board of Foot & Ankle Pediatrics, she has a passion for helping people stay active, no matter their age or ability. She focuses on sports medicine, pediatric care, skin and nail problems, diabetic care, and geriatric foot care.

Dr. Arya's clinical approach is rooted in her own athletic experience. She blends advanced diagnostics with gait analysis, shoe gear review, and in-office imaging—always starting with her patients' personal goals. Whether she is optimizing movement for an athlete, managing a chronic condition, or helping a patient recover from a sports-related injury, she creates a personalized game plan that fits their real life. While her passion lies in sports medicine, her practice also offers comprehensive care for diabetic and geriatric patients, as well as general foot, skin, and nail conditions.

After graduating with honors from The Ohio State University, Dr. Arya earned her podiatric medical degree from Kent State College of Podiatric Medicine. She completed her surgical residency at the Dayton VA Medical Center, where she proudly served active-duty military members and veterans.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Arya is an active person and a registered yoga instructor who enjoys playing tennis, pickleball, running, and hiking. Her lifelong athletic pursuits and deep understanding of biomechanics drive her keen interest in the intersection of footwear, design, and performance. Committed to her community, Dr. Arya volunteers at the St. Vincent de Paul Medical Center and teaches as an Assistant Clinical Professor at Creighton University School of Medicine. She also volunteers weekly at GiGi's Playhouse as a literacy tutor for a student with Down syndrome.

A proud dog mom, Dr. Arya loves spending time with her Bernese Mountain Dog-Poodle Mix, Atma. She is also pictured at Cathedral Rock in Sedona with her late Retriever mix, Chai. Dr. Arya welcomes new patients to her practice and looks forward to serving the Phoenix community.
